Rafting

Nepal has some of the best rivers in the world for white water rafting. From a one day trip to more than a week, there are many choices. Rafting also exposes one to incredible landscapes around Nepal and the culture of the diverse ethnic groups.

On Nepal's rivers are encountered rapids from Class I to Class VI on the International scale. Astounding landscapes greet the rafters as they descend from the Himalayan region to the terai (plains) enjoying the change in flora and fauna along the way.

Himalayan River Exploration

Himalayan River Exploration (HRE), the pioneer rafting company in Nepal, operates rafting trips on all the major rivers: the Trishuli, Seti, Bhote Koshi, Bheri, Karnali, Kali Gandaki, Tamur and the Sun Koshi.

Himalayan River Exploration offers a wide choice of river trips lasting from one to nine days. Trips are graded from gentle floats with occasional mild rapids right up to extreme white water. A combination of experiences are available on rafting expeditions to include treks, rafting and the rich wildlife of Nepal's lowland national parks. These include a two-day scenic trip on the Trishuli River to Tiger Tops in Chitwan and rafting on the Bheri or Karnali rivers in west Nepal combined with jungle safaris at Karnali Lodge and Camp in Bardia National Park.

Himalayan River Exploration's trips are run with high quality imported rafts (Avon UK) made from heavy gauge material. Each raft has six to nine independently inflated individual compartments that are specially designed for safety. The rafts are rowed by professional river guides who are also trained in emergency procedures like first aid, resuscitation and white-water rescue techniques. Rafting guides also know the local history, flora and fauna, the geology of Nepal and other aspects of this fascinating country.
